FOBP Committee and Members are looking forward to resuming our Annual Diary of Events Spring 2020

Bowring Park and Buildings Restoration Update

Most will have seen the article in Knowsley local newspaper The Challenge –

“Final Funding Boost for Bowring Park “ reporting that Knowsley Council Cabinet has agreed to invest £450,00 to complete the comprehensive whole site restoration of Bowring Park, the oldest in the borough currently benefitting from a £1.9 million Heritage Lottery Funding renovation Project currenly a work in Progress.

The further investment is required due to unforeseen issues which arose once the work commenced as can happen with such a major project involving heritage buildings.  Once intrusive investigations began (which could not have taken place whilst the buildings were occupied) significant structural issues were identified in both the Coach House and Stable Block (Golf Reception Building) that needed to be investigated and then back to the architects in order for the issues found to be corrected to enable work on both buildings to recommence.

The Dell wall and steps have been completed and the Pathways in the Walled Garden Area.

The new Car Parking area is being left to settle and should be open by the end of August.

The work is now expected to be completed on both Buildings by December so FOBP are looking to be getting things going again early 2020.

At the present time the Stakeholders Board which includes the chair of FOBP are very grateful to KMBC for the Finances they have invested in Bowring Park with regards to sorting out the Drainage system, taking over the running of Bowring Park Golf Club when Mack Trading suddenly went into administration and ensuring further finances stated above to enable completion of the Project.

There will be lots of opportunities for the local community to volunteer and get involved as the project heads towards completion. Assist with the planting up of The Historic Dell and walled garden, help the Friends of Bowring Park with our well-established Annual Events Programme. There will also be a host of other activities you could engage in such as heritage walks & talks, children’s, family and youth events, Arts and Cultural activities.
