We are seeking magistrates for both the Adult Criminal and Family Courts in Merseyside and volunteers are expected to sit for at least 13 days per year plus 1 days training per year. (Year 1 however has a 3 day training course). Our Family recruitment window is open until 30th September 2019, and we have a rolling recruitment program for the Criminal Court.
We are looking to spread to word to all communities within the Merseyside area so that we can ensure that magistrates represent their communities.
No formal qualifications are needed, but candidates must be able to demonstrate the 6 key qualities needed to be a magistrate at interview.
The magistracy offers individuals the opportunity to learn new skills and make a real difference to their communities and is beneficial for employers as staff get trained in soft skills like decision making and listening skills.
