Halewood, Huyton and Kirkby walk-in centres in Knowsley are experiencing difficulties in staffing levels as a result of the current situation. This is impacting on the walk-in centres from operating their normal opening hours.
Therefore, in order to maintain safe services, all three walk-in centres are temporarily reducing their opening hours to 10am to 6pm, seven days a week. This will take affect from Friday 20 March.
There will be no clinical staff at any of the three walk-in centre sites outside of the new reduced working hours.
The walk-in centres are delivered by North West Boroughs Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, providing consultations, advice and treatment for minor injuries and illnesses.
John Heritage, Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Chief Executive at North West Boroughs Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, said:
“The safe and effective delivery of services within our walk-in centres is paramount, which is why we aren’t prepared to compromise patient safety and want to ensure clinical quality.
“Despite this move, we will still be providing a walk-in centre service to the local population of Halewood, Huyton and Kirkby for eight hours a day, seven days a week, and will be reviewing the situation on a weekly basis.
“I would also like to reiterate the government’s advice for anyone who thinks they might have coronavirus symptoms: please do not visit a walk-in centre, GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital. Simply stay at home and contact NHS 111 online.”
