About us

One Knowsley works with the Knowsley community; those who live, work and invest in the borough and want to do good for Knowsley residents and build strong communities.

Who we are

We are an independent social infrastructure body, also known as an umbrella body, and CVS (Council for Voluntary Service).   We are the place lead for VCFSE in Knowsley and a member of the national CVS movement, comprising more than 240 linked organisations.

Our aim is to support, develop and amplify the voice of local voluntary, community groups,Social business and social action from our faith communities, charities and third sector organisations. In recent years, we have undertaken a range of new projects and collaborations with public and private sector partners that have enabled us to grow both the size and impact of our work exponentially.

Research evidence shows that strong VCFSE leadership bodies enable strong and resilient VCFSE activity in their respective areas. As our CEO Racheal Jones explains, “VCFSE are the cornerstone of our communities and our team is a group of amazing people doing amazing things incredibly well”.

What we do

Our strength lies in our ability to help VCFSEs identify solutions to challenges and opportunities to build stronger communities through our support and development expertise and our role to connect them with the decision makers, funders and investors to help them solve those challenges.

We provide knowledge and expertise to help VCFSE organisations to start, grow and establish themselves within Knowsley and further afield. We are proud that a number of local third sector organisations have been seeded at One Knowsley.

We are also a leading independent voice on matters of policy and practice, helping to start conversations, champion issues and promote positive action and partnerships within communities.
